College message
The College of Medicine in public universities seeks to excel in training and qualifying students during undergraduate and postgraduate studies in accordance with high-quality professional and ethical standards, preparing doctors capable of practicing patient-centered medicine, promoting health, continuing education, conducting research and contributing to the advancement of science and human knowledge through a supportive educational environment. By using appropriate teaching and learning methods within the university and in different clinical and community situations, and in strategic cooperation with local sectors and international bodies working in the same fields.
The most important work that takes place within the directorate:
- 1. Preparing a highly qualified practicing general practitioner who is aware of the health needs of the community and who is able to pursue education and abide by the ethics of medicine in order to contribute to providing health, in both its preventive and curative parts, to all citizens.
- 2. Preparing the doctor to pursue specialized graduate studies and carry out scientific research in accordance with the needs of the Syrian Arab Republic and its development plans.
- 3. Preparing specialists in various fields of medicine and providing them with a high level of knowledge and skill in their field of specialization, and preparing some of them academically to join the family of the Faculty of Medicine.
- 4. Contribute to rehabilitation courses and continuous medical and academic training while developing self-learning skills, refining critical thinking capabilities, creativity and the ability to solve problems.
- 5. Developing curricula, teaching methods, methods, evaluation methods, writing and translating university medical books, standardizing Arabic medical terminology, and setting rules for quality control and improvement based on the opinions of students, professors and experts.
- 6. Developing the spirit of collective medical work and strengthening cooperation with all sectors concerned with health matters in the country, students, administrators, and doctors, and strengthening cultural ties with regional and international health colleges and bodies.
- 7. Providing health services to a wide range of citizens through work in primary, secondary and tertiary health care centers.
